Adrift

Adrift

Mother Nature’s been kind so far
She smiles at us through her charity
Fishing comes easy when the nets are full
Blue skies, gentle breezes, everything’s grand

Black clouds and ugly waters loom ahead
Charging at us like relentless marauders
Power’s lost, can’t steer into the waves
Tossed about and battered, we kneel and pray

Panic sets in as we head toward the rocks
Who aboard can restore our power?
The most unlikely one stood up to the test
Power’s back on just before our crashing
Heroes are born, thank God he’s one of us
