Proud Lilies

As mother sun warms the ground
And the residue of snow sinks down,
Reaching the frozen homes of the flowers,
They start their thawing after many hours.

Up through the soil and beneath the sky,
Proud lilies stick their heads way up high.
They cast forth their beauty on display
And arrive just in time for Easter Day.

I wrote this Easter poem for the "Belt and Beyond" magazine.
