A rough and winding road
With potholes and debris,
With a haunting of the past,
With an evil act still remembered,
With retaliation and payback
Still running through the mind,
A contested satisfaction gained,
Fighting the devil with the devil,
Letting evil fester in the soul,
Letting it remain in control,
Letting it dampen the spirit
As you turn away from God
And take counsel with the devil
Who keeps on fighting
For the sake of fighting
And not the peace
That will end all fighting
That God is always
Equipped with,
To smooth over the
Road to forgiveness.
