September's Symphony

September’s Symphony

Warm days and cool nights
Cricket songs and soaring kites
Mating rituals and nature’s walk
Bringing summer to a teary halt

A symphony of psalms to a summer’s end
Another movement right around the bend
Winter’s lament waiting in the wings
North winds singing to what it brings

Tympanis pounding, piccolos screaming
Quiet days weeping at summer’s leaving
Arrive at frigid nights and cool days
Into distant suns and fading rays
September’s symphony, of sorrow and want
For seasons to hasten their merry romp
