Southern Winds

Southern Winds

Pushing northward in their gallant travels
To the frozen tundra as winter unravels
If snow could talk, a sad story indeed
Winter’s lament while fields go to seed

How southern winds feel against my skin
A relief from how and where I’ve been
In the land of the dead and clammy tombs
Of days forgotten how a garden blooms

‘Tis me in my summer’s appropriate attire
Pushing upper limits to take me higher
Standing in the glow of the eyes of the sun
Romping through fields ‘til autumns come
An ode to summer and what it means to me
Southern winds, they come to set me free
