The Human Target

The Human Target

He sleeps, he awakens, he rises up
Someone’s hiding and waiting for him
Always looking over his shoulder
For he is the prey, the targeted one

Carefree days of yesterday are gone
Tomorrow may come, he’ll never see
Constant vigilance, constant uncertainty
Precious is the day he sees the end

The soldier’s day of anticipated suppositions
Psyching out the enemy and becoming the hunter
A game of intimidation commences at dawn
On this battlefield, this all out war
It takes all he’s got to live through the day
God be with him on this day forth
