The Kiss of Summer

The Kiss of Summer

I long for its tender touch
A daring escape from winter’s clutch
Green fields and swaying barleys
Its sultry breath and cooling seas

Life smiles again upon arrival
Long awaiting its fresh revival
The bounty of life is on the run
From winter’s curse to find the sun

Dear summertime, I love your kiss
You warm my heart with heaven’s bliss
I look at nature with different eyes
For my prodigal ways I apologize

Blessed is nature’s generosity
Like a saint assured with modesty
Oh summertime, I do adore you
Winter’s gone, good-bye witch’s brew
Good-bye, good-bye, good-bye
