The Kiss of Summer
I long for its tender touch
A daring escape from winter’s clutch
Green fields and swaying barleys
Its sultry breath and cooling seas
Life smiles again upon arrival
Long awaiting its fresh revival
The bounty of life is on the run
From winter’s curse to find the sun
Dear summertime, I love your kiss
You warm my heart with heaven’s bliss
I look at nature with different eyes
For my prodigal ways I apologize
Blessed is nature’s generosity
Like a saint assured with modesty
Oh summertime, I do adore you
Winter’s gone, good-bye witch’s brew
Good-bye, good-bye, good-bye

Hi Nelson. What a romanticist you are. Although I'd love to steal your words to enhance my poem, I'm not aloud to. They remind me of George and Ira Gershwin, each one supporting the other.

Crisp cool minty delights of Spring kisses breeze through the green leaves of nascent Summer
winds and blow blossoms of Summer kisses.
Like. Thank you Robert.

almost 4 years your poem with a great personality! Robert.
Spontaneous and seductively beautiful...a lot like the only woman in your life that ever will make sense of "it all"..."she" then walks away smiling...and knowing ... you are happy... Oh! ...."blessed is nature's generosity..."

Hi Benjamin. You are lucky you don't have the cold winters like we do. Thank you for commenting on my poem.

Where I live, we don't go through the ordeal of a dreadful winter. This poem makes me experience vicariously the longing for summertime. Nice one.
