The Ride

The Ride

She came to me with open arms
Mesmerized me with all her charms
I followed her everywhere she went
Like a dog I was guided by her scent

She molded me into things I abhor
She threw me upon love’s threshing floor
From there my body and my spirit weakened
I was a lost soul, a fallow to be tended

If danger called to her I followed along
Love called it right but I knew it was wrong
Life before her was too safe and calm
From my slumbering passion she was my balm

She drove me along perilous highways
But I didn’t mind.  I lived for the ride
