My Love, My Jasmine

Oh I met a girl,
Her eyes they shone like fire,
I will not speak her name,
But her mind I did admire,
She left for some distant land,
Sailed off and out of sight,
She disappeared like smoke,
Or a ghost into night,

Her hair was brown,
And she smelled of sweetest sage,
She was some gypsy princess,
Or a queen from another age,
She impressed upon me,
That some answers aren’t fulfilled,
She left me with shaky knees,
And a wanting build,

Now me being a man,
Who wants but cannot take,
Couldn’t afford to chase,
And make fallen mistakes,
Oh but only in a dream,
Could I receive what I want today,
When she passed into the night,
With her beauty in her wake…
