The Muse

The Muse hovers just out of my reach
I try to put this so these words truly speak
Yet when attempting an idea she eludes me and tears cascade down my cheeks
Her derisive laughter chases behind as I flee

“Fool ye be, o Blind One,” she mocks.
“Know not you shall be summoned when I require thought?
I am the Goddess, you merely my pen,
I use your mind for mine own ends.”

“Why do you mock me? And I am hear to write for I, like many of my ilk am a poet inside—”
“Fool! I am the Muse. I give you peaons the ideas, you merely write
Either works of joy or tragic plights.”
