Mrs. Grundy

Has nobody thought of Solomons mother
Who’s ecstasy changed, from nursery to gutter.
With no time slip up, tie down, or to stutter.
Whos death came to quickly to cry.

What did she feel that morning Monday?
With her boy in her arms restless did he lay
I believe there’d be nothing, nothing to say.
Just a smile without hint of a sigh.

On Tuesday her eyes still glistened.
The words in the sermon, too busy to listen.
Proud of her boy his glory arisen.
The faith lives strong in his bones.

Wednesday came,
another woman took Solomons hand.
She said “I do” and danced to the band.
As his mother in the corner let go.

7 days in a week, Just a little peek.
A lifetime, a journey, no time to speak out,
don’t pout, the route,
The path is surely engraved, stained
In your feet, get off your seat and into the rain.
Inevitable beings, what’s it mean when
You get something green, and it fades to grey in 7 days. It was never yours, the water pours out of the glass and flows the way it goes. Can’t stop it, remember it was given, you may have it but never bought it.

Doesn’t mean, the feeling isn’t seen.
Some things real are just a dream.
But the happiness felt is just the same
And sometimes love is pain.

Thursday came with wedding bells gone,
Solomon awoke with a pain and a yawn,
A feeling never felt on any other dawn.
So he lay back down in his bed.

The next day, a friday, his condition was worse.
The doctor called, mother, pastor, and hearse.
As his mother arrived, god she did curse.
When she saw her son fading away.

On Saturday he died when morning turned night.
His mother tear soaked kept him far from the light.
Held his hand all day ever so tight.
Why’d he go so soon.

On Sunday his body lowered to the grave.
Tears were shed that built an ocean wave.
To cleanse a path for the man to be saved.
They played off a somber tune.

Miss Grundy fell Ill with a broken heart,
God had conned her and tore her apart.
These seven days from the very start,
Felt shorter than a life, that was lived
