Air Traffic, Can’t Control

-sorry E

watching all these planes above, they’re called love.
soar high. take shape of a dove.
if it all goes smoothly and the runway is clear.
there is only blue skies here, we have no reason to fear.

but i stumbled onto one who made my into a smoothy.
she mixed it in a blender,
then drank it cause it was soothing.
so no i rethink, taking her out for that drink.
because it wasn’t liquor that made me vomit in the kitchen sink.

i wont how in the world my vision was skewed,
and what did i feel toward that girl before we screwed.
it seemed to all come from one click of a button.
that one long phone called, it turned nothing to something.
that one long kiss, her first grab at my d*ck.
we went through the ringer about how it wouldn’t work out,
no doubt girl, we’ve been over this.
but you can just take
one more sip.

how’d i let that she-wolf get me so twisted?
wish i could take it back,
reverse or just flip it:
to another point of view and to tell you the truth,
i sure wish my heart didn’t have prints from your shoes.
but what’s new?
cause i’m always too quick to over invest.
i let these women take over that empty space in my chest.
you get the gist of the rest.
the decisions that led me to her nest, they weren’t my best.

and how could i forget about the girl that i had?
the one who gave me a daughter, she made me a dad.
i lost track of what’s important.
but her love was never in shortage,
in fact i tend to hoard it, even when i couldn’t afford it.
and any price i could pay, would never outweigh,
all the guilt and shame i live with every single day...
when she asked me on the porch if “i still wanna get married.”
of course i said “yes”
even though the thought still scares me.
but not because of divorce, it’s caused by my remorse.
and i can never explain how i flew out plane so far off course.

watching all these planes above, they’re called love.
soar high. take shape of a dove.
wish it all went smoothly, but the runway was cluttered.
so then we crashed and burned,
love lost.
dead in the gutter.
