What is normal
When everyone sees normal differently
It is normal for some kids to leave school with bruises and a tear stained face
It is normal for those kids to come back to that place with cuts on their wrists
And it is normal if those same kids, one day would never step foot in their school again
Never live another day
Never grow any older
Never feel 'normal’
What is normal
It is normal to some people to be beaten at home
To be sexually abused
Tormented by words and screams
It’s normal for them to be confused
As a person on the outside looking in
We could never understand normal to someone else’s standards
If you’re awake you can feel the pressure
If you’re alive you can hear them call
But what if you can’t feel anything at all
Normal can mean being different to some
Or even most of this world
It is normal for some families to starve in homes of decay
To have almost nothing except the strength of love
That is normal to them
Struggling to keep their loved ones happy
Or to die trying
It is normal for some to hear demeaning and cruel things from persons they don’t even know
It is normal for many to feel lost, lonely and scared all the time
It is normal for some people to be bullied, raped, abused, and killed just for the way they look
It is normal for public humiliation to be focused on who people love
Which gender they have an attraction to
Who people are
How they look; dress; smell
Where they work
If they are tall, skinny, short or curvy
It is normal for some to be killed for their skin color, religion or past behavior
It is not normal
This should not be normal
But to most people, it is
And to everyone else
It is as far from normal as it can be
So please tell me

Your definition of beauty; perfection; peace; belief
What does being normal mean for you
What is normal to any and everyone who walks and breathes alongside you
