Again in a Jar

I put my heart in a jar
I thought I had sealed it
Tight
Your smooth, and inviting hands
Twisted
My lid.
I could feel it beating
Against the glass

Your hand reached in
Though you could not see
The blood creeping from my cuts
You picked me up
Careful.
Calm.
Alluring.

You ran your gentle fingers
over my wounds
Wiping the blood away
Waiting
until I was okay

And with those gentle fingers
You ran once more
over my cuts
Peeled back the healing
and the comfort.

You took my heart
from that glass jar
and with your cautious
careless
fingers.

Tore open my beating heart
my beating soul.

Watch as you crunch
the broken glass
beneath your shoes.
