Restaurant in Sarlat

Near the banks of the peaceful river we had just canoed down was a quaint little restaurant. A grouping of tables was set up on the patio for our large group. I sat down in the somewhat uncomfortable chair and poured myself a glass of the rosé. Looking out at the evergreen valleys I was reminded of home. The weather was absolutely perfect! Not blazing hot, and not too chilly. Warm enough to be content in a t-shirt and shorts. I watched as my peers chatted in excitement about all they had experienced in the past few hours. The river danced and flowed, the trees overhanging the water swaying and waving in the cool breeze, the wine engulfed my tongue. A burst of music came through the speakers, a little pick-me-up tune. A CD with a mixture of Cajun musicians that we had given to our canoe guides was the magical touch to the peaceful scenery. I glanced over to see the tour guides faces. They were grinning from ear to ear. The lyrics to the music were in French. I haven’t experienced much Cajun music personally so it was a nice change in the culture. Our group watched as a few of our classmates tried to teach some of the others the traditional Cajun dance that played along with the music. Savoring the taste of the rosé, I looked out at the perfectly painted landscape of Sarlat.
