Mother Earth
We are all the children of mother earth,
Let me please explain what is she worth.
For thousands of years she has flourished,
Life has thrived and her off springs nourished.
Big beasts and small creatures existed harmoniously,
Everything was in an equilibrium and working gloriously.
Till… the time there was evolution of human race,
To live and let live in peace was no longer the case.
Humans began to plunder and became extremely greedy,
We became selfish, violent, killers, invaders and needy.
Sufficient was not enough, there was no contentment,
There was hatred, fighting, looting and resentment.
Humans developed fire, wheel and weapons like a gun,
They started killing their own, birds and animals for fun.
Greed had no limit and wars were fought,
Land, plants, animals and even humans were sold and bought.
Earth was torn and divided into different regions,
Regions were partitioned in the name of religions.
People are tortured, executed and raped in the name of religion,
Preachers placed fear and commandments in the mind of the legion.
Humans were divided on the basis of religion, region, birth and race,
People are still discriminated depending on the colour of their face.
We call ourselves progressed, developed and civilised,
Truth is, we are living in an iron cage and institutionalised.
We are cutting forests and exploiting our natural resources,
We will never learn, we are experimenting with nature’s forces.
There are threats like pollution, population and global warming,
Soon land will be scarce for foddering animals and to do farming.
Earth our future generation will inherit is not going to be nice,
The bitter truth is, we have sold our mother at a very cheap price.
Our mother is dying, but there is no time to weep,
To save her would be mankind’s true giant leap.
One day, together, we will live together in peace,
The revolution to save earth is not going to cease.

This poem echoes the urgent awareness required to save Mother Earth. We have done an irreversible damage to our planet. It's time to make a change and heal our Mother Earth.
