Orlando

Terror, fear, lives lost again
how many more times will we lose our friends?

We tell others to have faith and to stay strong
We can also sympathize,  but for how long?

How long, until it happens once more?
a school? theater? club? or store?

Shootings and terrorism are part of the norm
so sudden and tragic, and we’re never warned.

Families face nightmares, with last calls and texts
Pain fills them all with lack of words or regrets.

We can’t leave our homes without fear of return
now active shooter seminars, we’re expected to learn

The lives lost in Orlando last Saturday night
was a tragedy, a disaster, caused such fright.

There are little words, that can comfort such loss
God stretches out his arms for us as he did on the cross

My heart goes out to all of those affected by this
Lives taken so soon, friends that will forever be missed

Now, we stand and we fight for what we believe
Home of the Brave, Land of the Free

We must stand united and try not to fret
Orlando friends and family we will never forget
