BLAZE OF GLORY

Another season has come to pass;
Another page in the book of her life is turned.
Too many years apart have passed between them;
So many harsh lessons to be learned.
Thirteen years since that fateful morning,
Like a flash in the sky, you were gone;
Leaving behind no answers, no explanations;
Just a young woman who loved you
And a mother to grieve for her youngest son.
She has tried to make the most of her life,
Tried no to dwell on things long past.
Yet, once again she finds herself talking to cold grey stone
As she places a dozen white roses in a glass.
Though the passage of time has not eliminated the pain,
It dulls somewhat when she thinks back on their story.
It ended much the same way that it began,
They went out in a blaze of glory.
