A Dream of a Garden

Thou, so happy nymph,
My fulsome pounding heart,
Waited on the stone folly!
Through the arboreal arch.

Married with moss and ivy
The offertory fruits you sought
Inside the night black envelope
Replete with gushing growth.

Thou, so pretty fairy queen,
Floral ribbons in thine hair
I bowed to kiss thy feet a while
In the still and perfumed air.

Shrouded in mint wisps
thou were in silken gossamer
Thine ankles wore a petalled bloom
In pimpernel and oleander.

Thou, so beautiful goddess
In enduring moonlit marble
Fingers gentle, touch thy cheek
Lady of the midnight garden.

Framed thy shining soul I saw
Through rings of azure ice
Thy beautiful smile thou smiled at me
Promised fabled paradise.
