Hope for your love

To the woman I loved while I was still at varsity

I gave you my heart,
I gave you my love,
I gave you my time,
And all my attention

I took a leap of faith,
Hoping to be caught by your love,
But sustained an injury;
My heart shattered into many pieces

All I wanted was to be wanted,
Like vaseline on a dry skin,
You to be my woman,
And put covers on my cold heart

I still think about you,
Your smile and your captivating walk,
Your body, yes, that too,
And the elegant way you talk

But the wheel is always turning,
One of these days, I’m sure
You’ll remember my love that was burning
And hopefully you’ll give me one try

(2015)

This poem is about being rejected by a beautiful girl that I loved so much, but I still hope that one day she will give me a chance to show her the love I still have for her.
