Hard Studies

To a certain someone who is working so hard in her exams right now but I know that she will do brilliantly! :)

She’s an exceptionally prudent
A-Star student,
Yet she’s hit a brick wall,
A mental occlusion,
A blockade,
Promoting some kind of delusion,
No sense to be made in this growing confusion.

She studies all day,
She studies all night,
She does this for weeks
Until she gets it right,
You tell her to rest,
She puts up a fight,
She’ll take work to bed and not turn out the light.

Her fingers are bruised
From many pens used,
Her wrist is so sore
From writing some more,
Her head is in pain,
All work and no gain,
Her patience is wearing,
She’s blinding and swearing,
She feels like she’s losing,
For all this perusing
Of words, they’re refusing
To stay and stop oozing
Back out just like water,
A river of findings,
All washed away into the sunset so blinding.
Why is it this world can be so undermining?
So absent in guidance for which we are pining?
We struggle to find the so-called “silver lining”,
We struggle to muster these tasks it’s assigning.

Now back to this student,
Did I mention she’s prudent?
Proficient,
Observes and detects every movement.
Be that as it may,
It has come the day,
Material entity causes dismay,
With so much revision and no time to play,
It feels as though sanity’s fading away.
She’s tired, she feels like just fading away,
Fading away, fading away.

She stops, thinks, shouts: “No way!”
No longer will she allow herself to stray,
No longer will she accept any delay,
She’ll finish this coursework, she’ll do it today!
She’ll start on her essay, and then kick its ass!
She’ll eye it then smash it like optical glass!
She knows this now; she has her confidence back,
Now she can walk in to exams and attack!
