Last Kiss

For one last time you let me put my arms around your waist,
I have to try hard as not to do it with such haste,
You look into my eyes as I stare right back into yours,
Holding farewells in our gaze before we close the doors.

For one last time our eyes close in perfect synchronisation,
As we lean in our heads both tilt to perfect inclination,
The distance slowly lessening between our ready lips,
Our bodies being pinched as we’re both tightening our grips.

And then time stops,
The world stops rotating,
All movement has ceased,
All sight is vacating.
Absolute silence,
Except for a drum,
Or possibly two,
Badum, Badum.

After some time of no time, the drums both beat faster,
And stronger than they sounded right at the start,
Then time, sight and movement all come back at once,
And it’s clear that the drums were the sound of our hearts.

Now back in the moment where eyes are still closed
We move in together almost nose to nose,
So close we feel the warmth of breath on our skin,
And that’s when our very last kiss did begin.

To kiss your lips that were once mine,
Reminded me just how divine,
It felt to be so close to you,
So dreamy I feel dosed by you,
You are my drug, you make me feel,
Out of this world, it’s so surreal,
You spin me round like a Catherine Wheel,
Of burning love, head over heels.

For one last time our tongues unite,
And playfully begin to fight,
Amorously massaging,
As they enjoy their one last fling.
Gently rubbing up together,
Wishing it could last forever,
Stroking, tickling, brushing past,
‘Tis a moment that should last.

When the kiss stopped I was speechless,
You just smiled, like you do,
I was in a happy daze,
I just felt like thanking you.

The perfect match we would have been,
We could have both made history,
It’s sad that we came to an end,
For something that we could not mend,
But I’m still grateful for the time,
When I was yours and you were mine,
And grateful that I now have this;
The memory of our last kiss.
