Moral Dilemma

Confronted with a moral dilemma,
Every muscle in my body starts to tremor,
Because it’s you I think that I can keep it sealed in,
I’m fighting hard but growing weak, I think I’m yielding.
I try to comprehend all that I know, but in the end,
I have to choose between a friend and you, I’m going round the bend.
Keeping your darkest secret’s tearing me apart,
It’s like a vicious war between my conscience and my heart.

Is it wrong to harm somebody to protect another?
Even though you may be blinded by the fact that you love her?
And we’re not talking scrapes and bruises, this is a matter of life and death,
Filling the lungs of one with air while taking the other’s last breath.

The girl you love and your oldest friend have taken up their stations,
The time is now upon us, you must make your ultimatum.
What sick-minded twisted freak compiled this creation?
Where keeping but one secret will result in a cremation?

I need a second opinion but the decision must be mine,
I want to share her secret but then if I do she’ll die,
And if I don’t say anything then I will lose my friend,
My moral dilemma is choosing which life I should end.
