Punishment
This is even more appropriate to me now than when I wrote it 2 years ago, sad but true
You try to pull me down with you whenever you feel decadent,
You try to put me down but I’m as thick-skinned as an elephant,
I’m on my own yet you come after me with a whole regiment,
You really think your numbers scare me when I’m in my element?
I’m in my zone which means I won’t let you touch me,
To think that I can’t fight alone you must have misjudged me,
You want to erase me yet you can’t even smudge me,
If that makes me a stain then I guess I must be.
A mark, a scratch, a bruise, a scar if you must,
You try to weaken me but I stay robust,
If you try burning me then YOU will combust,
I’ll eat away until you’re nothing but dust.
I hold the power and the gift to be heartless,
For I am Lucifer! Satan! The Angel of Darkness!
Call me what you will, but know I am not fiction,
I come in many forms and this time I come as addiction,
I’m here because of you so we can call it self-infliction,
To argue with me now is nothing less than contradiction.
I can’t believe you try to pull me down when you feel decadent!
By which I mean the overdoses, don’t be so Old Testament!
And how dare you turn on me with self-conducted regiments?
Your stupid throng of doctors thinking they can reach a settlement!
You know I’m in my element! So answer this, I’m curious;
Do you know what you’ve done? I’ll tell you: YOU’VE JUST MADE ME FURIOUS!
You think your life was difficult before you tried to leave me?
Before you made the foolish choice of trying to deceive me?
Well that was nothing, now you will feel real pain believe me!
I’ll make you wish you had never been born and find it easy!
You’ve sold your soul to the devil and you’ll never get it back,
Your world will start to darken until all you see is black,
Your organs will begin to fail, your brain begin to slack,
This is your punishment for trying to get back on track.
