Absence of a brolly

The rain was pelting painful blows
Its offspring dripping from my nose
The wind was sharp, cutting deep
Blowing leaves in their defeat
My hair was weighted in heavy strands
For an umbrella i did not have on hand
The papers fluttering, held to my chest
to protect them with my cotton dress
Glasses fogged, sight restricted
This chaotic storm no one predicted
So now i shiver with goose bumped skin
To wait for a lift from one of my kin
I withstand a minute, maybe two
Untill the car comes swiftly in view
Splashing in cratered puddles on the road
I run to the car with a sense of forebode
Opening the door, i sit in distress
And squint at the woman who looks back clueless
Taking my glasses and rubbing the blur
I stare at the lady wrapped in fox fur
It took yet a moment for me to realise
That this was not my sister in ridiculous disguise
In fact this car i had so desperately took cover
Was the vehicle of a woman, with her baby and her mother
Reddened face, my apology a mumble
I rush out the car with a bit of a tumble
regaining my composure, i slam with a thud,
The door to the car as i plunge into mud
Beeping happily, perched on a curb,
Opposite from this car was my lift, how absurd!

I wanted to try a more light hearted, comical approach to my writing
