Chandelier

The silent beauty remained ever defenceless
She was not one with words,
her inability to express emotion was a curse to herself but a blessing to others

The world saw her as a source of happiness, radiant and glowing
But her energy was non-renewable,
we used her up to fuel our lives regardless of our selfishness.

And yet no one saw her,
when the world was deep in dreamless sleep, her lights burnt out
Clinging to crystallized tear drops of sorrow. Never letting them fall.

She was misunderstood. So very very misunderstood.
But that didn’t stop others from stealing her away.

And it was a shame because she shined.
Not with dazzling lights, but with fine lights. Like the delicate chandelier she was.

When she fell down from exhaustion, neglect and woe, she cried for the first time, her river finally paid.

We ruined her. We stole the light in her eyes.

And so beauty killed herself with silence.
