Dream analysis

Slumber pulls you into his realm
Deep in mist and shadowed night
Enchanted silence beckons all
No escape from this recurring fright

For the sand man brings deserted dreams
Haunted by that one lost ghost
Who appears each night, before your wake
Astray an abandoned rocky coast

There she stands amid tormented waves
As lifeless hair, wraps round her head
An ocean black, tsunami crazed
A stormy sky glazed in red

No eyes or ears, no mouth or nose
A faceless girl she be
although most would find her terrifying
In her there’s something familiar you see

A drenched nightgown fused to her flesh
Scarcely protects her modesty
Ribs broken free in their distress
Her wounds running constantly

She lifts her arm, painfully slow
Blaming for untold fouls
she points her crooked, broken finger
If she had a mouth she would scowl

When you shout out “why” or “what have i done?”
She ignores your questioning stance
Instead, she walks into the sea
With not a second glance

Blow after blow on her frail form
Her body inescapably engorged
Surely deceased
Whilst the waves continued and thoroughly explored

Throughout the night, you search for her
In the rusted old tug boat
As dawn breaks through
You see a body, on the surface barely afloat

When you pull her out of icy blue
And lift her drooping head
You find she looks the spit of you
Then you shoot up from your bed

Sweaty palms, rapid breath
Alert, wide eyed and scared
The hourglass too soon had let its last grain fall
But you know the truths been shared

You replay the eventful nightmare,
What’s the meaning of it all?
You sigh and turn the other way
as the shadows dance upon your wall
