Our children

Such pure beings they seem
Their souls so fresh and clean
Lack of sin, they love not hate
Nor do they judge or jinx ones fate

A new journey awaits each one
Whether they are your daughter or your son
But with malleable views of what is deemed right
In this endless, desperate plight
Nothing can prevent the tarnishing of their souls
And the ridding of their childhood goals

For as they grow, they grow apart
From the wishes that are in their heart
A childhood passed is a childhood gone
Forgotten and left as they move on

From babies to toddlers, to children, to teens
They become adults and forget what it means
They were stripped and torn from their innocent ways
Back in their carefree childish days
