When you saw the ghost across the hall
Did it look human at all;
Or was it all your hopes that died,
Left to linger in the house
Where starving dreams still lie?
Wherever went that glimmer
You were so proud to hold in eye;
Who’s the stranger I look up to
The giant shadow, once was my
Reflection to hold up against,
Behind the image in the mirror;
Now lost to drift outside my hands
Outstretched, retreating now in fear.
When the words that came so willingly
Aren’t given back the same;
Is this the mountain that I sought to climb,
Is this where I got my name?
