Fortune Cookie

Another time clock’s punch, I wave goodbye
To the youthful face ever under my eye;
Poor boy, he never knows what to do
Waiting on dreams that don’t come true.

It’s alright, I get it
You always were the fearful sort.
Confident in anything but romance
The days are long; the years seem short.
But you shrug it off, smiling at everything you see;
Chuckling, I watch you become me.

Did you ever see us at the bar
We’ve got years to go, but we’re living, right?
Hah, living’s taken us  so far
Fortune cookie, tell us where to go
My fair lady, can we see you to your home?
Another night leaves us looking lonely
Oh well kid, l guess it’s you and me.
