Lullabies

Baby doll, now don’t you cry;
Let me peck your cheek and wipe your eyes.
We’ve paid our time, a heavy price
For promises of paradise.

Hush, my beloved;
There’s no need for harsh words.
When it’s all said and done,
We’ll still be love birds.
Flying to each other so we can bring
Happiness and joy, cut off by clipped wings.

Smile now, and sleep tight;
Comfort lying over our beds.
Some day soon we’ll see the light
We’ve lost in blues and angry reds.

Are you weeping; are you seeping?
There now love; I’m not gone.
I’m always there in your heart,
And your presence keeps me upstart
Deep inside;
When I want to hide.

Lullabye, and goodnight;
Wishes for bright tomorrows.
I’ll be here, don’t you fear
To pull you from your sorrows.
