Masters of Our Own Time

To see the universe in perspective
Trying to force planets to collide,
To fill a void that’s been overlooked
From so very long ago.
It brings a tear drop to the eye,
Spilling out the wasted years
Of looking out at the wrong places;
Of spacing out at the wrong faces
And looking too far ahead of time
To realize
The Big Bang, it’s come and gone.
Such beauty taken from our hands
That all’s left is to rediscover
Lost desire birthed of mortal greed–
A need
To grasp masterfully each thread of time
That each second counts,
At least in our mind.
