Orphan

"…They will ask you about the property of orphans. Say, 'Managing it in their best interests is best'. If you mix your property with theirs, they are your brothers…"

Silence ever is nothing but
When one recounts the imprints earned;
Wide bodies of outspoken past
Under bridges built and burned.
Taken to the head and heart,
Ever present on the mind.
Unabashed in need to surface through
The frozen wastes of time.

And as it ever comes to pass
That such haunting lyrics sway
The now into a lesser form, for care and come-what-may.
To battles dead that rise again, with need so great and dull;
Such is the way of phantasmal things,
Leering heads without a skull.

Old as ours, til the day such schemes
Fall to gravity’s taut pull.
Amaranthine in sense and scope,
Always hunting for the fool.
Life always tends  to find a way, and yet
So much seems lost within the din
When echoes I can’t claim as mine
Sound like lost voices on the wind.
