If Only...

Eve took of the fruit and she ate
Lured by the sweet words of the snake
Eyes shall be opened, mind to see
What others think and hearts to be...

If Only...

Husband said to wife, “I’ll be home
Tomorrow; just after the storm ”
Heart’s full of anticipation
He’ll be there, without a question

The morning and the storm had passed
Her husband will be home at last!
The sun is setting in the west
Fingers of darkness, she detest

The night has come, no sign of life
No calls, no texts, his worried wife
Anxiety, fears, her mind benumbed
Loneliness and gloom, she succumbed

If only she’s a deity
To know what happened, easily
Where and why her husband could be
From fret and turmoil, she’ll be free.

Her soul is vexed, Oh, what to do!
She’s so confused, she has no clue
Afraid to act, she might regret
Or her husband’s anger, she’ll get

His words and actions don’t compute
Contradictions you can’t refute
Obedient to his harsh commands
Her full submission, his demands

In desperation, bowed her head
Prayerfully to God she pled
To give her peace and mind at ease
From sorrows and pain, please release

Divine, she doesn’t need to be
Seek God, His grace, His throne to flee
Cast all you cares till you’re all blue
With everything, He’ll see you through
