A poem, about you, about thy
A poem, about love, for love, with love
A poem, about me, about I
A poem, sincere, peaceful as a dove

Words, describing my love, pure, true
Words confessing my love for you
Words, flowing effortlessly from my lips
Words, falling flawlessly on this page

A face, unaware of the smile it keeps
A face, so youthful it seems not to age
A face, with beauty so quiet, so subtle
A face, of a queen peeping nonchalantly out her castle

A dream, bright as those of a kid
A dream, so beautiful, so colourful, so vivid
A dream, of you, your imperfect being
A dream, brought on by an overwhelming feeling

A fear, of openly loving A flawed individual
A fear, of giving love no one can ever equal
A fear, stemming from experiences of the past
A fear, to love, to give oneself away, to trust

Mistakes, the first was staring at your eyes
Mistakes, every one of them leading to this
Mistakes, thinking that every feeling dies
Mistakes, thinking A snake can be taught not to hiss

Weakness, helplessly falling for you
Weakness, admitting no one else will ever do
Weakness, staring at lips I’d so much like to kiss
Weakness, those eyes how can anyone miss?

Love, filling my heart, my whole heart
Love, taking over my body, every part
Love, sounding so regular, so cliche
Love, still beats me to this day

A promise, not of luxury, not of everlasting wealth
A promise, not a gift, not a wedding ring
A promise, not of immortality, not of eternal health
A promise, if you love me, I’ll be your everything
