The Moon
to The CVGS Class of 2013
The night is chilly
Somewhat unusual for the season,
But nonetheless fitting for my mood.
The night is well lit
And as I look into the sky,
I see my heart
Full as the moon.
And suddenly,
I am filled with equal parts
Joy and sadness.
And I feel as though
I have lost a very dear friend.
Yet, I am contented
Because I know he has moved on.
I have no regrets,
Only the things that can’t change.
And I have no last words,
Only a fond farewell.
For I do not know if ever I’ll see you again,
But I hope that I will.
And I do not know if ever you’ll feel as I feel,
But I hope that you shall.
My only wish
Is that the moon would remain full
So that I would never have to watch it fade away.
