Discipulus

Red-wash sun over raging river,
Another time around the circular cycle.
Intensity spreads across the horizon
Like a net to catch untouched thoughts
Suspended in the absence of time.
Shifting shapes in pulsing minds
Seeking for the thing it finds.
Words aren’t what they used to be.
I’ve been learning quite the lesson.

Lapsing units of measured space
Spilling across a timeless face.
Holding light in sightless sight
To meet the steady sea of eyes
Adorned with quivering waves
Of discontented sighs.
Love is yours to give again
Like the wind that passes through
The growing cracks in ancient shells,
In dissolution of imagined hells.
Laughter will find you again.
I’ve been learning quite the lesson.

There is a great expanse
Laden with the undefined -
A floor that shifts beneath the stance
Where threads of meaning unwind.
And the bottom runs much deeper;
And the heights– infinitely higher.
We fly or fall together -
Whatever we desire.
Oh, I’ve been learning quite the lesson.

Downward cast, the steady gaze,
A little lost inside a haze.
Treading water in a woman’s love
Deep enough to devour the Galilean moons;
An arch of light I watch remotely
As it seeps into the heart of all things.
Silence tells no lies.
Sometimes we walk the path alone.
I’ve been learning quite the lesson.

Red-wash sun over raging river,
Another time around the circular cycle.
I never knew it would be quite like this.
Searching through the scattered pages
Bearing thoughts from various ages.
A quiet dusk besets the window
As a vast intensity
Spreads across the horizon.
I’ve been learning quite the lesson.
