Guilty By Omission

I write so that you might understand that look I sometimes give you.
Early in the afternoon, people bustling around us,
I am blind to it all the moment you set foot on the stage.
For me, you are all I see, a combination of all things masculine;
Straight backed grace, purposeful strides, dexterous hands.
A mind steeped in heavy thoughts and an untamable spirit.
Have you no idea how lost I am to you,
Is my expression that deceptive?
Do not my eyes give me away?
I hold so tight the reigns of self discipline,
Lest I, in weakness, sigh your name aloud, as I often do in my thoughts.
I wonder what could be between us, if things were different,
Though I know it is dangerous to do so.
I try to stay away, but it is beyond my capabilities.
Hiding my affection seems like an affront to nature,
But how much devastation would it wrought,
Letting your light shine into my dark heart?
