Ophelia Quest

I slink across through the tall and slender reeds.
The water is cold as it wraps itself around my ankles,
An icy tongue chasing up to my calves.
Tiny fish silver past my toes, as I impel ever deeper to my quietus.
The chain of my days has grown too heavy, the links, long and desultory.
I leave my penitent heart upon the brow of yesterday
To wed, with an unobstructed mind, the ceaseless delight of futurity.
The day star falls away to night and I cast my last unfiltered gaze out to the horizon.
An aqueous blanket caresses my lungs and I sink down to fulfill my Ophelia quest.
My empyreal exile is over and I am restored to the ether of my inception.
