Forgive me Father, For I Have Sinned

Forgive me Father, For I Have Sinned
“What manner of woman was she, your wife”
“She was the sun”, she smiled like the stars
“How do you know her heart beats still”
“How do you know your heart beats”
“Most days, I don’t know, he says”

Once, I saw a mother turn away from a crying child
All she wanted, breakfast
Again I saw a man raise his fist
Against his “beloved’s” fine skin
I saw friends in the back, stab each other

I grew wanting to be no where
Not a child nor a Father
Never wanting to make a mother
Not a friend or foe, to live a life like no other
Tell me young one, have I lived
My life without loving
