Honorable

There are so many reasons to start screaming.
Ice on the outside, but deep down
passion’s seething. Hostility begging,
volatility needs releasing.
Pastel-green healing you’ve been needing,
as night time cocoons you in silence.
Unopened memories keep doing their violence.
You are now stolen by darkness,
the one place to find you breathless.
The only place you can’t hide from this.
Floodgates bust hinges, opening unlocked:
this is it. You’ve got sixty seconds on the clock.
What you never dealt with,
now demanding closure.
Always with you, pillaging–
never truly over.
Stifling your voice, until you wonder
“Am I breathing?”
Shut your eyes as you go under,
But don’t go down unless you’re screaming.
