A Father’s Wish

May a warm sunrise wake you up every morning
May colorful sunsets always conclude your days
Never dampened by thunderstorms and lightning
Only refreshing showers, late on Thursdays!

Your love for each other, let it blossom and grow
That you may bring out the best from each other
Nurture, make your love even stronger tomorrow
Not till death do you part, but now and forever.

Grow old together; may all the years be kind
Your household brimming with children’s laughter
Through it all, may your hearts be always intertwined
Spring, summer, winter or fall; even thereafter

May God shower you with blessings day and night
Keep you in the palm of His hands, never out of sight!

My baby daughter got married last December. I delivered the father-of-the-bride speech at reception. At the end of the speech I gave a toast which I have recently converted into the poem above.
