Caricamento in corso...

Heaven on Earth

Nestled behind tall trees, the old plantation house
Stood stately and elegant, a muted testimony
To a bygone era; a time of grace and gentility,
Unlike today, when everything’s glitz and phony!
But this morning, there’s panache in the air
A joyful breeze blows; all of nature’s in harmony

Inside the mansion, a quaint lovely chapel
Decked in ribbons and flowers, dressed for a wedding
Suffused in soft morning light; and behind the altar,
Through large windows, golden rays are streaming!
The pastor’s at the altar; while the groom awaits
Butterflies all around, yet his smile is beaming!

Musical strains, a magical melody, fills the air
From the balcony, four lovely maidens appear
Daughters, his and hers; they march to the altar
Bouquets of hydrangeas in hand as they go near
Each one gives the groom a hug and a kiss
Their faces agleam; finally “At Last”, they hear!

There she is at the top of the stairs, in the balcony
In a glowing ivory dress, a heavenly apparition!
A white rose in fullest bloom, petals unfurled
As she goes down the stairs in a fluid motion…
Her son meets her at the bottom of the steps
While Etta James croons with feeling and passion!

Down the aisle they march to meet the groom
As the beautiful song plays; it seems like forever!
She glows in the surreal lighting of the chapel…
Her smile’s radiant as the crowd gazed at her,
Her eyes sparkle, for her happiness is undeniable;
As her son hands her over to the groom at the altar!

The groom takes her bride, with love aflame
In his eyes, in his mind, and in his heart!
Their eyes meet, the whole world vanishes
And in that moment, they’re one, never to be apart
The morning air is electric; sparks are everywhere
Like when they met, ‘twas like that from the start!

As they held hands, her daughter sings a love song
Just after his daughter read passages from scripture!
Words of inspiration comes from the pastor
Then the bride sings to the groom; ‘twas pure rapture
They profess their vows; pledge undying love
In the mid-morning haze, they make a perfect picture.

‘Twas a perfect wedding with just family around
‘Twas as if the angels have descended from above
To create this blessed event; join two hearts forever
Two souls wishing to be happy; always remain in love
To live the rest of their days in each other’s company
That’s heaven on earth, just what dreams are made of!
