hand sanitizers we’re armed
a pack of disinfectant wipes
out into the world we venture
gather supplies hunt for food
like neanderthals of old

baseball caps large sunglasses
multi-layer masks cover our faces
sometimes a neck gaiter
disposable gloves as well
like bandits robbing a bank

from people we stay away
six feet no closer absolutely
whether they be people we know
or total complete strangers
like lepers in biblical times

but when we get home, we go zoom
the wifi better not misbehave
time to chat with the kiddos
make sure they know we miss them
like hummingbirds miss nectar!

In a way it is good, to see & realize, while connections on the outside are missed, our connections at home are what matter most.

Yes and no. Yes, I get to spend lots of time with my wife. No, because I really miss my grandkids. They are growing so fast I am hoping this will be over before they are too grown up

Thanks for liking Charlotte. Yes, it does. And the sad thing, we have no leadership in this country. The end nowhere in sight.

Nice poem Brod. Love it. Life revisited. Yes how we wish to be just out there pre Covid 19, but no no! Just can’t be out there anytime we want sin covid paraphernalia armor what with the grim reaper at the gates.
Thanks for a good read. Like.

Thank you Brod. Life turned upside down and the end nowhere near. Still I’m hopeful and praying old times will return soon. Just a few years for us to travel and complete our bucket list.

Masks and sanitizers aren't the worst of it, to me it's the insidious fear of tomorrow, making plans two weeks in advance and then being paranoid about every tickle in the throat, every weird feeling, could it be one of the symptoms?

Indeed. My wife calls me the Prince of Paranoia. But I think you can’t be too careful.

You describe the "new normal" well! Who would have thought it would come to this with the
end of it not so near.

Thank you Barb. By next year I hope this nightmare will be over.
