Touching you

Late at night;
another helter-skelter day,
having flown off unexpectedly
into alien domains of disarray.

So many urgent moments
returning from that place,
I’d never seen or been before.
Looking for any sign
of the home-light burning
through the fearful night.

Now, by grace, I rest here safe
before a blazing hearth.
And I think of you.
And I think of touching you.
And I know you’re several worlds away
in some different time of day.

So I bring myself
before the sacred altar,
this miracle desktop marvel;
and before whatever time it is
has any chance to pass;
I am touching you.

You won’t read these words
of love and sweet surrender
until such time as you return.

I believe more deeply
than what I hold as holy,
I am touching you
And we are one.
