Title In Process

For the Women of the World

My name is Yasmine Gavriella Shiloh,
and I’ve got something to say.
Now I want all of you to hear this, and listen carefully
because every day I walk the streets of this city as a woman.
and every night when it begins to get dark I avoid the parks
walking an extra four blocks just to stay on busy streets.
This is not for entertainment.
This is for survival.

The survival of womankind as an allied power is not known by those
who don’t bleed like we do
don’t feel the cramping of our femininity
or the flow of a chemical filled rage
charging through our veins
and into the swelling fingertips of
our sweating
clenched up fists
because many underestimate the
wrath of a woman
for hell hath
no
fury.

Many of you know I’m right.
You don’t think about it often do you?
All of us can consistently forget that a woman’s body
is not only a glorious plan of mountains and rivers
worthy of being explored,
But a base of operations for the human race.
The matrix of mankind.

So ladies, be it biological or otherwise identified please,
Listen up.
We have been blessed.

Blessed with the power to literally create life
Blessed with the flaming fury of an estrogen filled rage
but also blessed with a soft touch, lips crimson and kissable
Blessed with curves, mountains and rivers,
capable of bearing the future of our world inside ourselves
Nourishing that future with our own blood sweat and tears.

Now although the geography of every woman’s body is unique
to each of us phenomenal women,
we all share in common that same base of operations.
We are wired to live as the mothers of the world.

And on that note let me side-track for just a moment
to remind us all that the authority to govern our own biology
is all too often taken from us
and the barricades that are placed on our rights to choice
have begun a never ending battle between the control of our bodies
and the opinions of those
who have yet to walk a red moon in our moccasins

Now back to my original message,
A verbal telegram of the little known oppressions
known a little too well by those who face it every day

So women of the world
My matrons, my mothers,
my matrixes of mankind,
Stand tall.

Because every woman

is phenomenal

to me.
