THE BEGGAR

I lay adrift a mass of words
And bones & thread, they went unheard.
For devotion’s fled my awful clasp;
 And never will return.

I begged my love; never for her love,
I begged and bled this heart.
But words should not deserve her love;
 That beautiful soul departs.

In conversations made of sand
My feet sank underground.
She slipped away, void alleyways;
 Promises now unbound.

This lazy mouth, this ink-less pen,
Each word to me belied.
This door that never opens;
 Eroding with the tide.

Illuminant nights shone awful truths,
Displacing care with contempt.
I pinned it all to my heart;
 Un-learnt with regret & sentiment.
