Splinter

Sometimes I try so hard to change those around me
Yet I still forget to remember to change myself
When will I learn to believe that I am not holy?
They are not the only ones who need some help

Now I must tear out the plank in my own eye
Before I go tear out a splinter from your eye

I make them listen to my thought righteous talk
And strive to change the way that they live
But while saying these things I preach to them
I stray from the path I tell them to walk

I must tear out the lies in my eyes
So at least I’d have a splinter in mine
Then I could see how they see
I must learn to submit to humility

This an older one with a meaning similar to that of Indifference and Losing All Sight. It's short, but was incredibly heartfelt during the writing process.
