Then Blue Silk

On a Charles Mingus theme

Orange was the colour of her dress
which would fly around her knees in that afternoon
among tall skyscrapers.

She was sad. Tears flooded her eyes.
I would look at the tiles of the floor in the park
and comment about the weather.

She couldn’t get anything else from me
she cursed and hissed and stomped her feet on the floor
but my heart was closed with a mix of love and stubbornness.

And so she was engulfed by big skyscrapers
her dress melting with the sunset
going away with my heart in her hands.

Orange was the colour of her dress
which would fly around her knees in that afternoon
when we said goodbye.
