Embers

Just as an ember burns like a soul
but will surely fade, if not kept strong, kept whole
It waits on a breath of wind, for spark and flame to wed
burning brighter when its fed
in the darkest of places holding light
it provides reason, warmth and courage in the night

the passion behind all smouldering desires
the driving force in the wake of knowledge and great fires
to be harnessed and not tamed
to be mindful as momentum is gained
respect its wild nature, and its will to fly
understand this, you will not be burned, and the flame will not die
